The Molecular Biodiversity Bioinformatics Laboratory (MBLab) is a recent project initiative partially funded by MUR (Italian Ministry of University and scientific Research) in which are involved both a private partner (IBM) and public research institutions (university and non-university institutes) with competencies in the fields of IT, Biology, Biodiversity, Bioinformatics and Agroindustrial.
This initiative has two main goals:
- setting up, in Italy, a Center of Excellence focused to deal with advanced and complex issues and tasks related to molecular Biodiversity by means of bioinformatic tools (with an in silico approach);
- providing specialized and high-level education in the Bioinformatics domain to 20 young talented researchers (graduate and/or postDoc), recruited from multidisciplinary backgrounds.
